Eye On… Asia Pacific – Dimas’ Challenge

During times of uncertainty, we know that our God remains in control! The Eye On… Campaign was developed prior to the tragic outbreak of COVID-19. Our parent organization has released a statement, and our director, Mark Brink, has also addressed this crisis. We continue to partner with our colleagues and friends in praying for the Lord’s guidance and intervention, and we pray that you will be inspired, moved, and blessed by the Eye On… Campaign’s content as we focus on Muslims in Asia Pacific. Looking at the Muslim woman in the boat with them, Dimas* told his friend, “Let’s throw her out…

Eye On… Asia Pacific – GI in Papua New Guinea

During times of uncertainty, we know that our God remains in control! The Eye On… Campaign was developed prior to the tragic outbreak of COVID-19. Our parent organization has released a statement, and our director, Mark Brink, has also addressed this crisis. We continue to partner with our colleagues and friends in praying for the Lord’s guidance and intervention, and we pray that you will be inspired, moved, and blessed by the Eye On… Campaign’s content as we focus on Muslims in Asia Pacific. A spiritual battle is raging in unlikely places around the world due to the spread of Islam. Keep…

Latin America’s Impact in the Muslim World

In a recent Jonah Initiative training in Argentina, 67 students attended our course on Ministry to Muslims. On the third day, our professor asked the question, “How many of you believe God has called you to minister to Muslims?” Over 25 hands went up! He thought they misunderstood the question or it was mistranslated. When asked again, the same number of hands went up! The Spirit is raising up evangelists and church planters from Latin America to reach Muslims. Globalization and migration has significantly redefined the world in which we live. In like manner, these changes have redefined the historic…

Preparing Church Planters in India and Nagaland!

Nagaland, a small state of India, nestled in the Himalayan foothills, is an anomaly for the region. Over 100 years ago, the people of Nagaland were headhunters until Baptist missionaries preached the gospel to them. Today, nearly 90 percent of the 2 million inhabitants of Nagaland are Christians. Global Initiative recently had the privilege of offering a Jonah Initiative training in a new intercultural studies program at the Nagaland Bible College where students are preparing to be church planters. Dr. Senty Ao, the president of the college, has a tremendous vision to see thousands of missionaries sent from her school….

The Spirit continues to call Romanians to reach Muslims!

“Feeling sorry and having a deep pain, seeing how [Muslims] live in darkness. I have an open heart towards them, strong wishes to see Christ changing their lives. Urgent involvement!”  After a recent Jonah Initiative training, that was a Romanian student’s response to the question: “What did God speak to you regarding reaching Muslims with the gospel?” Another student responded, “Yes! I am convinced God calls me to share the gospel with Muslims.” We are grateful to God that His Spirit is still leading Romanians to reach Muslims! Romania is a unique country that God has raised up to impact the Muslim…

Tanzania is poised for a great in-gathering of Muslims!

Like so many other nations in Africa, Islam is expanding rapidly in Tanzania. Currently, 21 million people in Tanzania are Muslims, whichrepresent nearly 40% of the country’s population. Islam is growing exponentially due to several factors. For instance, the island region of Zanzibar, just off the coast of Tanzania, is 96% Islamic. The nation has also seen an increase of Muslim immigrants from India and several Arab nations. In predominately Christian areas, Islam is investing significant financial resources into the economy and educational system. Ultimately, the evangelistic nature of Islam is pushing toward majority control of the country. For the…

In the midst of adversity, the Spirit is moving in Indonesia!

Looking at the Muslim woman in the boat with them, Dimas* told his friend, “Let’s throw her out of the boat. Nobody will see us because, at the moment, it is only us and her.” It may come as a surprise to you, but Dimas is a pastor and a professor at a Bible school in Indonesia. Once you hear what he and his family endured, you may understand why he wanted to feed the Muslim woman to the sea. It is difficult for us to understand what minority Christian groups in Muslim majority nations face on a daily basis….

Delivered from Hinduism and Called to Share Jesus with Muslims!

Both Farhan* and Neha* were born into Hindu families in a Muslim majority country. When Farhan was 15 years old, a Christian evangelist came to his city, and his mother decided to attend the evangelistic meetings. Although untouched by the preaching, Farhan’s mother accepted a New Testament in her local language. She gave this new religious book to Farhan to read. Farhan, having his curiosity peaked by other worldviews, read the entire New Testament. After a thorough investigation into this new faith, he simply laid the book aside and kept practicing his Hindu beliefs. Six years later, while studying in…

Eye On… Islam: From Latin America to Afghanistan

After attending Bible college, Pablo met and married a wonderful woman who was a devout follower of Christ. Together, Pablo and his new wife felt God calling them to missionary service in Panama where they planted a church and started a Bible school. During their time in Panama, Pablo met a community of Muslims from Afghanistan. But after the September 11, 2011 tragedy in New York City, Pablo developed a bitter resentment toward Muslims. Soon, though, the Holy Spirit convicted him of his unChristlike attitude, and his hatred was replaced with God’s love for Muslims. When Pablo and his wife…
