Equipping the Future for Muslim Ministry

This past month fellow believers from 120 nations gathered in Springfield, MO., for the Centennial Celebration of the Assemblies of God. What a celebration it was as we reflected upon what God has done. Our task, however, is far from finished!

In light of this 100-year reflection, we have been thanking God for what the Holy Spirit birthed in the heart of our founder, David Irwin: his vision to reach Muslims with the gospel.
Here are some of the highlights of what God has done through Global Initiative (formerly Center for Ministry to Muslims or CMM) since 1982:

  • The Jumaa Prayer Fellowship has grown to more than 60,000 people interceding for Muslims on a weekly basis in 85 countries.
  • Over 40,000 pastors, missionaries and laypersons now have been trained through The Jonah Initiative, and we are in 42 locations worldwide.
  • Through Our Greatest Opportunity we have seen some 400 churches planted in 34 different Muslim-majority countries. Through the generosity of friends like you, Global Initiative has been able to send nearly $3 million to fund these newly planted churches.

We can stop right here and give thanks to our Lord! Because of His love for Muslims, all of this happened:

  • The Holy Spirit has moved upon His people to generously give for this call to be fulfilled.
  • The Holy Spirit has touched the hearts of God’s people to pray.
  • The Holy Spirit has changed hearts through anointed training to love Muslims and share the gospel.

But we believe that we are seeing only the beginning of greater breakthroughs! We have two new initiatives being developed that will be key factors to seeing ministry to Muslims advance for the spread of the gospel.

Under Our Greatest Opportunity we are developing a new initiative for national church planters to enter restricted areas under a business platform. We have been informed that it is too dangerous for Western missionaries to go to Mindanao, Philippines. If they go there, they will be kidnapped or killed within 30 days. However, our Filipino brothers and sisters have an open door to their own people. We’ll be sharing more about the Mindanao Initiative in the next few months.

We also believe a great inroad into Muslim hearts and homes will be through Muslim women coming to Jesus. Say Hello: Serving Muslim Women has been birthed for this very purpose. Say Hello has recently released a guide to help women know how to build Christ-like friendships with Muslim women. In our context of freedom in the West, we have the opportunity to see the Holy Spirit touch the lives of Muslim women who’ve come to live or study in the States from literally all over the globe.

A Guide to Building Christ-Like Friendships with Muslim WomenAs an expression of gratitude for your faithful support through prayer and giving, we’d love to send you a copy of a newly released booklet Say Hello: A Guide to Building Christ-Like Friendships with Muslim WomenFill out the form below!

Thank you for partnering with us and celebrating what the Lord has done. Your gift this month will help us advance in places where the Spirit is leading to see further spiritual breakthroughs among Muslims!
