Training church planters in the Middle East!

Recently Global Initiative had the opportunity of training over 25 ministers in the Middle East. Most of the attendees were church planters among Muslims! Upon considering the composition of the attendees, two

things stood out that emphasize the new move of the Holy Spirit: (1) all the trainers were national workers, except for one American, and one of the trainers was a former Muslim; and (2) students came from many surrounding nations, including Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Sudan, and Syria.
This is significant because just a short time back, we couldn’t even imagine that church planters would be heading to these countries. Let us rejoice together over the supernatural and powerful move of God’s Spirit among Muslims today!

One of the students from Yemen testified, “We are a forsaken country, but God still walks with us.” A

student from Tunisia shared that “fear keeps believers in their comfort zone.” Declaring the gospel in these countries comes with great risk, yet the Holy Spirit is emboldening believers to declare the Truth about Jesus! A pastor from Algeria shared that all the leaders in his church are Muslim background believers. In other words, former Muslims are now reaching their communities with the gospel. Our trainer, who is a former Muslim, challenged the other pastors: “Break some rules; break some barriers. This is the call of Muslim evangelism today.”

For those of you who have partnered with this ministry for years, we are seeing the fruit of our labor and answered prayers. The focus of this ministry has been to come alongside the national church in Muslim majority nations. We have challenged the local church to pray for Muslims and focused on training pastors and evangelists to share the gospel and plant churches among the Muslim people. What a joy to see the mantle of ministry passed on to national trainers who are now raising up national workers to minister in areas where Americans would have limited access.

At the same time, we are seeing just the tip of the iceberg. Our work is far from over! Now is the time to stay on the spiritual offense as these new doors continue to open. Prayer continues to be our primary offense in the battle! Satan, the enemy of our souls, often uses fear to keep Christians from sharing their faith with Muslims. If we allow the enemy to intimidate us, it can effectively immobilize us. Paul
reminded Timothy, “God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control” (2 Timothy 1:7).

Your faithful partnership in prayer and financial gifts enables Global Initiative to answer the call to ministry among Muslim people. Together, let us continue to believe God for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in many places that have not yet been reached with the gospel. We are standing on the brink of even greater breakthroughs!

Because every Muslim must know the truth about Jesus, we press on and thank you for standing with us to accomplish the Great Commission among Muslim peoples!

It always amazes me to think about how many Christian people are out there in the world spreading the news about Jesus. We are so blessed to live here even among liberals, and their causes. We should all remember those who struggle every day to worship, or work for Christ, and pray for them with a burden as big as the one for the lost.
I’m glad we got the chance to meet you Saturday. You are in my prayers.
    Thank you for your service.
