Ten Students at a Jonah Initiative Training in India Affirmed God’s Call to Reach Muslims!

“Before this class I hated Muslims and I never prayed for Muslims. But after this class I have a burden for Muslims and now I pray for Muslims … and after college I want to go minister to Muslim people.”

This is just one testimony of the 44 students who recently received training in India through the Jonah Initiative. At the end of training, our team led the class in a time of Jumaa prayer. As we know, prayer brings about the transformational work of the Spirit in hearts and minds. Prompted by the Spirit, our team member asked students to stand if they were sensing that God was calling them to ministry to Muslims. In response, ten students boldly stood up to affirm that the Holy Spirit was asking them to follow His leading.
This is why we do, what we do! What hope do Muslims have to hear the gospel if no one proclaims it? God’s Word is true, as stated by the Apostle Paul:

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are
they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear
without someone preaching?   And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As
it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
(Romans 10:14-15)

The effectiveness of our Jonah Initiative training helped prepare Christians in India to preach the good news to Muslims in their own country. Another student testified, “Now I know how to reply to them and get them to Jesus!” Another student shared: “These classes really changed my view of evangelism; it gave me a wonderful burden to do ministry among Muslim people. Rather than be a pastor, I want to be a missionary among the Muslims.” The Spirit is continuing to awaken many Christians to the spiritual needs of Muslims. What a joy it is to see the work of the Spirit prompting Christians to step out in faith to share the Good News of Jesus!

Immediately following the training in India, the Global Initiative team continued ministry in a nearby Muslim country. God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is moving in unique ways! For instance, Pastor Hasan* began to reach out to Muslims. In the past decade, he has personally baptized 55 Muslims who have accepted Christ. In another part of this country, God is building a growing church comprised of former Muslims. They face hardships, much like the first century church did, but they continue to give a powerful witness of Christ. Muslims are hungry to know the Truth about Jesus. They recognize that Islam comes up empty and void of the lasting peace that only Jesus gives!

Through your faithful partnership and prayers, the Global Initiative team can equip the church in places like India. We continually thank God for you and your generosity and regularly pray for you and your loved ones. We also pray that thousands of Muslims will come to know the truth about Jesus as a result of our work together in God’s Kingdom!
