Global Initiative’s Dr. Tommy Hodum recently traveled to Indonesia to teach as part of the Jonah Initiative. Tommy called this Jonah Initiative in Indonesia spectacular in the sense of kingdom accomplishment.

He began by preaching in two locations in Surabaya. Sunday morning he ministered at Jehova Jireh Assembly of God with Pastor Windu Winarso. The church was 13 feet wide by 60 feet long and the middle aisle was only 18 inches wide, and it was packed with former Muslims, drug addicts, prostitutes, and seekers. Others stood in the street listening to the whole service. Pastor Winarso also has a church in the local graveyard. On Saturday they have 360 adults attend the first service and around 180 youth and children attend the second. He has been doing this outreach for 12 years among the “tomb dwellers.

On Sunday evening, Tommy preached at the church of the General Superintendent of the Indonesian Assemblies of God: Ebenhaezer Assembly of God, with Rev. Tjak Kaihatu. A great time of ministry to his congregation occurred.

Monday through midday Wednesday Tommy was in Makassar, Indonesia, a very heavily Muslim populated area. Pastor Obed Batlayar facilitated the Jonah Initiative teaching; his openness and energy helped the attendees to grasp, evaluate, and apply the challenge that was presented.

Wednesday through Sunday Tommy was in Kupang with host Pastor John Adu. Pastor Adu is also District Superintendent of Nusa Tenggara Timor. This Jonah Initiative was in conjunction with their District Council. The icing on the cake was to hear Pastor John challenge his congregation Sunday morning with the material shared and then see a Muslim woman respond to an invitation during prayer time. That is why Global Initiative is here.
